Josefa Sanchez, 103, of Olton, died Wednesday, June 5, 2019, in Olton.  Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM, Friday, June 7, 2019, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton.  Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 8, 2019, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with Fr. John Cherolikal officiating.  Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Friday, June 7, 2019, at Ramage Funeral Directors.

Josefa was born September 3, 1915, in Goliad, Texas.  Raised by Marcos and Justa Lopez, Josefa married Pedro "Pete" Sanchez, on October 12, 1935.  She moved to Olton in 1959 from Karnes City, Texas and was a homemaker.  Involved at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Josefa was a proud member of the Guadalupanas.  She loved to sew, do embroidery work, and she made sure that all her grandchildren and friends had her handmade hot pads and aprons.  Homemade tamales were her specialty and they were excellent.  Her tamales were known far and wide and were enjoyed by everyone including movie producers and celebrities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro "Pete" Sanchez, in 2010.

Survivors include three sons, Sabino Sanchez and his wife Blanca of Garland, Francisco Sanchez and his wife Dominga of Garland, and Claudio Sanchez and his wife Josie of Garland, and three daughters, Yolanda Minjarez of Olton, Mary Jane Garza and her husband Rey of Earth, and Rosa Rodriguez of Seagraves.  She was blessed with 24 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren
