Josefina V. Lopez, 82, of Hale Center, Texas, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, in Plainview, Texas. Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2025, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Hale Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 25, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, with Father Alex Ambrose officiating. Interment will follow at Hale Center Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Born on March 5, 1943, in Stanton, Texas, to Valentin and Juana (Moreno) Leon, Josefina was a lifelong resident of Hale Center. She married Willie Lopez in 2003. Over the years she worked in several capacities, including positions at Hi-Plains Nursing Home and American HomePatient. She was a devoted member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church.
Josefina enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing Lotería, and trips to the casino. Above all, she cherished time with her grandchildren and deeply valued her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Valentine Leon and two sisters, Agustina Trejo and Florinda Barratero.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Lopez of Hale Center; three sons, Jose Ruiz, Anthony Ruiz, and Gabriel Ruiz, all of Plainview; three daughters, Norma Guerrero of Plainview, Hope Martinez of Abernathy, and Michelle Ruiz of Plainview; one brother, Margarito Leon of Wiggins, Colorado; and four sisters, Maria Alejandrez of Fresno, California, Juanita Castilleja of Oceano, California, Dominga Hooks of Hale Center, and Martha Lathbury of Lockport, New York. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
