Obituary

Kathryn Joyce Bryant, 86, of Olton, Texas went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 12, 2023. Kathryn 'Kathy', was born October 19, 1936 at Springlake, Texas to James Meredith and Daisy (Jones) Crawford.  She welcomed a baby sister at the age of 5.  Kathryn grew up on her parents' farm near the Circle community.  Kathryn attended Olton School District and graduated in 1955.

She married Harley Bryant of Littlefield on June 26, 1955. They were blessed with two daughters. She enjoyed being a wife and homemaker on the Bryant farm.  In 1958 the couple moved to Olton to farm Kathryn's grandmother's place north of Olton for her.  Kathryn operated the drive-in they owned across the street from the Olton High School. Later the family moved to the Hereford area on the Godwin Ranch for a few years.  The family moved to Lubbock in 1964, then on to Guymon, OK in 1967, where they opened their own irrigation business.  After 27 years of marriage they divorced in 1982.

In 1982, Kathryn was hired as the manager of the Texas County Fairgrounds and the Texas County Activity Center in Guymon.  She managed the Texas County Fair and all events held at the Texas County Activity Center.

In the early 1990's, she was elected Oklahoma Fair Board President in Oklahoma City.  In 1994 Kathryn accepted the position of Director of the O'Loughlin Center in Spearman, Texas where she resided until her retirement in 2008.  While battling Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma she moved back to Olton where she enjoyed her retirement years.  Kathryn was a member of the Church of Christ.  She enjoyed traveling, gardening and especially time with friends and family.

She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Luedke and husband Bruce of Gunter, Texas and Latayne Smith and husband Audy of Newkirk, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Brandon Luedke and wife Amanda of McKinney, TX, Kelli Hudson and husband Brad of Frisco, TX, Braden Smith and wife Susannah of Arkansas City, KS and Taylor Smith of Garland, TX; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Johnnie Beth Boverie and husband Bill of Alamogordo, NM; and other extended family members.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jimmy Don Crawford.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday March 17, 2023 at Main Street Church of Christ with Bill Boverie and Dallas Carrasco officiating.  Interment will follow in Springlake Cemetery in Springlake, Texas.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Westview Boys Home (PO Box 553, Hollis OK 73550) or Lubbock Children's Home (PO Box 2824, Lubbock TX 79408).  Arrangements are under the personal care of Ramage Funeral Directors of Olton.
