Kay Jefferies, 81, of Olton, died Saturday, April 15, 2023, in Olton.  Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Olton Methodist Church, with Pastor Kyle Brock officiating.  Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.  Viewing will be held from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.

Karolyn Kay Murray Jefferies was born July 13, 1941, in Stamford, Texas, to Thomas and Nealy (Gentry) Murray. She graduated from Anson High School in 1959 and went on to attend Hardin Simmons University.  On November 22, 1962, Kay married John Jefferies.  Kay graduated from Hardin Simmons and taught school in Trent, Texas, for two years.  Moving to Olton in 1965, Kay taught second grade at H.P. Webb Elementary in Olton for 33 years.  Earning her master's degree in counseling from Texas Tech University, Kay became a counselor at Olton ISD for the next four years.  Kay had an impact on many lives over her 39 years in education.

Kay was a member of the Olton Methodist Church where she served in many ways.  She was a former Sunday school teacher, choir member, and served as the pianist for many years.  She was also a member of the Olton Study Club and Olton Senior Citizens.  Kay enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.  She had a gentle and kind spirit and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Jefferies in 2017, son, Scott Jefferies in 2014, and a brother, John Tom Murray in 2015.

Survivors include her son, Brian V. Jefferies and Amanda Flowers of Olton and two brothers, Michael Murray of Olton and Max Murray of Anson.
