Larry Smith, 75, of Olton, died Sunday, January 28, 2024, at his home, in Olton, Texas.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Ramage Funeral Directors.  Private family graveside services will be held at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Larry was born August 12, 1948, in Olton, Texas, to Ollie and Ruby (Morris) Smith.  He was a lifetime Olton resident and a truckdriver.  Larry loved driving his truck and he drove for Olton Grain Coop for over 30 years.  A man of few words, Larry loved horses, dogs, and was a talented woodworker. Larry posed as the Apostle Thomas for famed artist, Kenneth Wyatt, and his painting hangs in churches and galleries throughout the United States. He was an amazing father and grandfather and he adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life, Sandi Smith, a daughter, Brittnie Welch, and a sister, Oleta Bennett.

Survivors include his daughter, Donna Chavez and husband Luis of Olton. He was blessed with three grandchildren: Gabriel Chavez, Brittnie Casares and husband Mychael, and Susie Casares and husband Josh, and three great-grandchildren: Shelby Rayne, Yareli, and Alaia.
