Laura Jean Betancourt, 50, of Hale Center, died Friday, March 29, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas.

Laura was born June 8, 1973, in Live Oak, Florida, to James and Betty (Barker) Trutt. Moving to Hale Center in 1996, Laura often volunteered at the First Baptist Church. She always had candy in her pockets and she loved the color pink.  She was a talented gardener and had beautiful flowers in her yard.  Laura also loved dogs and butterflies.  She spent time at the Fountain of Life in Hale Center and everyone there loved her dearly.

Laura was survived by her mother, Betty Barker of Hale Center, her son, Claudio Torres and wife Samantha Tolen of Fort Smith, Arkansas, her sisters, Michelle Gerrera and husband Ruben of Hale Center and April Celio of Live Oak, Florida, a nephew, Anastacio Garcia of Hale Center, and a brother-in-law, Autelmo Betancourt of Hale Center.

Cremation arrangements are under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.  There are no services scheduled at this time.
