LaVelle Dear Jenkins, 81, of Olton, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 in Amarillo. Services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, November 23, 2009 at Main Street Church of Christ in Olton with Mr. Bill Phillips and Mr. Mike Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

LaVelle was born September 11, 1928 in Dimmitt. She was a longtime area resident and graduated from Olton High School in 1947. She married J.W. Dear March 14, 1948 in Dimmitt. He preceded her in death in 1991. On May 17, 1994, she married Jimmy Jenkins and he preceded her in death in 2002.

Survivors include her sons, Lonnie Dear and his wife, Sharon, of Fort Worth, Leland Dear and his wife, Freda, of Littleton, CO, and Larry Dear of Earth, her daughters, Myrna Baker and her husband, Ronnie, of Irving, Karen Daniel and her husband, Raiford, of Amarillo, Darla Slover and her husband, Greg, of Panhandle, and Connie Breckenridge and her husband, Clayton, of Fort Worth, and her brother, Robert Henry of Wilcox, Arizona. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 5 to 7 PM.
