Leopoldo G. Martinez, 85, of Hale Center, died Thursday, July 16, 2020, in Hale Center.  Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 23, 2020, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Hale Center with Fr. Jacob Powell officiating.  Interment will follow at Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Leopoldo was born April 6, 1935, in Edroy, Texas, to Pedro and Petra (Gomez) Martinez.  He married Manuela Ruiz on November 24, 1955, in Hale Center.  A member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Leopoldo was a cursillista for 37 years.  He loved playing the accordion, going to casinos, and scratching lottery tickets.  Leopoldo also enjoyed buying and selling cars, loved family gatherings, and was a very loving father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.

Survivors include his wife Manuela Martinez of Hale Center, three sons, Leo Martinez, Jr and wife Norma of Plainview, Mario Martinez of Hale Center, and Stevan Martinez and wife Denise of Hale Center, six daughters, Margie Gutierrez and husband Joe of Hale Center, Melissa Martinez and husband Ambrose of Hearne, TX, Patsy Martinez, Billie Martinez, and Susie Gonzales, all of Hale Center, and Esmerelda Castillo and husband Jessie of Hale Center, and one sister, Angie Ramirez of Lubbock.  He was blessed with 28 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
