IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lester O.
Kennedy
June 2, 1930 – January 7, 2020
Lester O. Kennedy, 89, of Olton, died Tuesday, January 7, 2020, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 11, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Brother Rob Norris and Mr. Joe Carrasco officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Lester was born June 2, 1930, in Hale County, Texas, to Earnest and Myrtle (Hollacher) Kennedy. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 earning the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. On June 20, 1954, Lester married Norma J. Smith. A lifetime area resident, Lester was a Christian and was a farmer until his retirement in 1998. He loved fishing and was a talented horticulturist as he developed his own variety of cantaloupe, peanut, and sweet corn. At the age of 87, Lester became a beekeeper and made his own honey. He enjoyed welding and was known as a "fixer" because he could fix almost anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Kennedy of Olton, his son, Mark Kennedy of Tyler, and his daughter, Lesley Logan and her husband Jeff of Lubbock. He was blessed with three grandchildren: Candace Reynolds, Caleb Logan, and Katie Logan, and two great-grandchildren: Sarah Mae Reynolds and Lynnsey Kay Reynolds.
The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
