Lydia was born January 14, 1939, in Edinburg, Texas, to Esequiel and Ignacia (Rodriguez) Vasquez. She married Abelardo Jose "A.J." Soliz on April 6, 1955, and together they shared 38 years of marriage rooted in love and family. Lydia worked for Olton ISD in the cafeteria for 10 years. She was known by many simply as "Wella," a name that reflected her loving nature and the warmth she brought into every home she entered. Lydia enjoyed crocheting and knitting, cooking meals for her family, and spending time in her garden—especially tending to her beautiful roses. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family time was her greatest joy, and her gentle spirit, love, and kindness made her a pillar of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A.J. Soliz; two sons, Joe Angel and Esequiel Soliz; a grandson, Chris Soliz; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Joe Soliz and wife Rachel of Lamesa, Tony Soliz and wife Susan of Olton, Albert Soliz and wife Karla of Olton, Freddy Soliz of Olton, and Adrian Soliz of Olton; her daughters, Paula Vasquez and husband Joe of Olton, and Minnie Perez and husband Henry of Lubbock; her brother, Tony Vasquez of Dallas; and her sisters, Connie Bustamante of Dallas and Hortensia Trevino of Edinburg. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association PO Box 1087 Olton, Texas 79064 or the Runningwater Draw Care Center PO Box 409 Olton, Texas 79064.

Lydia will be remembered for her unwavering love, her nurturing heart, and the joy she brought to her family. Her legacy of warmth and compassion will continue to live on through all who loved her.
