Obituary

Madie Merle Williams, 92, of Olton, died Wednesday, November 29, 2023, in Olton.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Main Street Church of Christ with Evangelist Dallas Carrasco officiating.  Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023, at Ramage Funeral Directors.

Madie was born May 7, 1931, in Klondike, Texas, to Leo and Clarice (Hooten) Perkins. On February 12, 1947, at the age of 15, Madie married Robert "Bob" Williams in Childress, Texas and they were married over 67 years before his death in 2014.  Bob and Madie made their home in Olton in 1953 and she was a member of Main Street Church of Christ.  After a rocky start in the kitchen, Madie became an amazing cook as she raised their six children.  She and Bob drove the Joy Bus, for many years, picking up kids and taking them to church.  For 22 years, Madie and Bob were the Camp Host for the National Forest Service Campground Field Tract in Pecos, N.M. She loved to paint, crochet, and work on crafts.

Madie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert "Bob" Williams, her son, Robert Williams, Jr, daughter-in-law, Nina Williams, and a sister, Clara Proffitt.

Survivors include her sons, Alan Williams (Dani) of Olton, Kevin Williams (Brenda) of Olton, and Chris Williams (Twila) of Nazareth, her daughters, Fredda Dear (Leland) of Olton and Linda Garlick (Bill) of Wilson, North Carolina, daughter-in-law, Theresa Williams of Olton, three brothers, Jimmy Perkins of Abilene, L.V. Perkins of Amarillo, and Johnnie Perkins of Oklahoma City, and two sisters, Faye Jones of Amarillo and Debra Payne of Tool, Texas.  She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
