Maria was born December 22, 1948, in Beeville, Texas, to Martin and Maria (Bosque) Sanchez. She married Juan "Johnny" Gallegos on April 18, 1984. In 1983, she moved to Earth from O'Donnell, Texas, where she made her home for more than four decades. She worked as a clerk at Allsup's in Earth for 10 years.
Maria cherished the time she spent with her cousins while growing up, and throughout her life, her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and her husband, whom she considered life's greatest blessings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Martin Sanchez, Jr.; and a sister, Lorenza Maestas.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Gallegos of Earth; two daughters, Lucy Ruiz and husband Michael of Dimmitt and Beatrice Moreno of Earth; two brothers, John Sanchez of Amarillo and Max Sanchez and wife Patsy of Hereford; five sisters, Julia Martinez of Lubbock, Paula Gonzales and Rita Flores, both of Earth, Nati Ochoa of Plainview, and Libby Gonzales of Karnes City; six grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Maria's sister, Rita Flores, for being her caregiver and to Calvert Home Health & Hospice for the great care given.
