Maria Gonzales, 86, of Hart, Texas, died Friday, June 20, 2025, at her home. Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2025, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, in Hart, Texas. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, with Fr. David Contreras officiating. Interment will follow at Hart Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 22, at Ramage Funeral Directors, in Olton.

Maria was born December 8, 1938, in Los Fresnos, Texas. She was raised by her grandfather, Mateo Reyna, and her mother, Soila Reyna. She married Rodolfo Gonzales Sr. on December 5, 1957, and they moved to Hart in 1958.

Known to many as "Wela," Maria worked as a custodian for Hart ISD for 24 years. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Hart and the Guadalupana's. She loved to cook, crochet, and spend time with her family. Her laugh was unforgettable and brought joy to those around her.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Gonzales Sr.; a daughter, Ninfa Gonzales; a grandson, Rodolfo Gonzales III; five brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Rodolfo Gonzales Sr. of Hart; three sons, Rodolfo Gonzales Jr. and wife Esther of Hart, Rene Gonzales and Lupe of Hart, and Robert Gonzales and wife Armida of Amarillo; two daughters, Rosalinda Gonzales of Amarillo and Rosalinda Romo and husband Javier of Chicago; three brothers, Raymond Bernal and Robert Bernal of Ennis, and Eduardo Reyes of Marlin; and three sisters, Rebecca Adams of Palmer, Rachel Bernal of Wilmer, and Rita Corrales of Odessa.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
