Maria Elena Herrera, 54, of Dimmitt and formerly of Olton, died Thursday, February 29, 2024, in Dimmitt, Texas. Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2024, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.  Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, in Olton, with Fr. Alex Ambrose officiating and under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 4, at Ramage Funeral Directors.

Maria was born May 11, 1969, in San Ignacio, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Manuel and Irma (Briones) Herrera.  She moved to Dimmitt from Olton in 2013. Maria enjoyed playing Bingo and the Mexican lottery with her friends.  Always joking and making people laugh, Maria was the life of the party when spending time with friends.  She loved listening to music, cooking, and being with her family.  Her grandchildren were her life and she will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Brenda Marie Cabral, a brother, Manuel Herrera, Jr., and two nieces, Elizabeth Del Castillo and Irma Ramirez.

Survivors include her sons, Richard Cabral of Dimmitt and Andrew Herrera of Dimmitt, daughter, Carla Diaz and husband Manuel of Dimmitt, and three sisters, Marisela Cruz and Nadine Flores, both of Olton, and Angelica Herrera of Dimmitt.  She was blessed with two grandchildren, Natalie Diaz and Nathan Diaz.
