Maria Aurelia Rodriguez, 82, of Olton, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, in Lubbock. Rosary will be said at 6:00 P.M., Sunday, May 6, 2018, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton.  Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 7, 2018, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Sylvester DSouza officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Affectionately known as "Mary" or "Lica", Maria was born March 11, 1936, in Tynan, Texas, to Manuel and Paula Rodriguez.  She moved to the Olton area in 1959 with her family to work in the cotton harvest.  Mary worked at the Dairy Mart Café and at Dairy Queen in Olton.  A member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Mary's favorite pastime was piecing quilt tops.  She also loved plants, flowers, and gardening.  Never having children of her own, Mary was most proud of having helped raise her great-nephew, Chris.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Santos, Pedro, and Joe Rodriguez and a sister, Teresa Rodriguez Villarreal.

Survivors include six nieces: Delia, Irene, Janie, Paula, Cindy, and Monica and three nephews, Adam, Jessie, and Pete.  She was blessed with numerous great-nieces and nephews.
