Maria Ruiz, 81, of Olton, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018, in Lubbock.  Rosary will be said at 8:30 P.M., Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton.  Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Pena officiating.  Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.  Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the funeral home.

Maria was born January 13, 1937, in Mertzon, Texas, to Jose and Bruna (Sosa) Bueno.  She married Pioquinto Ruiz in 1953 and was a homemaker.  A member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Maria was also involved with the Guadalupanas.  She enjoyed watching novelas, shopping at Walmart, and was a talented cook.  Maria loved having company over, talking and laughing, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Viola Bosquez and Juanita Ruiz, a brother, a granddaughter and a grandson.

Survivors include her husband, Pioquinto Ruiz of Olton, four sons, Pioquinto Albert Ruiz, Jr. of Albuquerque, Rene Ruiz and his wife, Alba of Del Rio, Javier Ruiz of Plainview, and Damian Ruiz of Denver City, three daughters, Rita Oliva and her husband Cayetano of Olton, San Juanita R. Zermeno and her husband Jose of Olton, and Alma R. Melendez and her husband Enrique C. of Plainview, two brothers, Jose Bueno of Tyler and Jesus Bueno of Olton, and two sisters, Felicita Guerrero of Plainview and Adela Lopez of Olton.  She was blessed with 27 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
