Marie Machen, 92, a long-time resident of Olton and Lubbock, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in Lubbock. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 26, 2010 at Olton Cemetery with Rev. Carolyn Jordan officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Machen was born September 25, 1917 in Seymour, Texas. She and her late husband, Murrie Machen, who died in 1973, lived and farmed for more than 44 years in Olton. She also owned and operated a beauty salon for many years in Olton. Well known for her friendliness, love of fashion, gardening, and sewing, she also had great cooking abilities. She loved West Texas and its' friendly people.

She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Machen Noll of Kingwood, TX, a son, Deryl Machen of Cibolo, TX, five grandchildren, Vandi Hodgson of Lawrence, Kansas, Wade Machen of Abilene, Ky Paul Machen of San Antonio, Anthony Noll of Magnolia, TX, and A'Lisa Denny of Fenton, Michigan. She also is survived by a niece, Karen Chandler Beesinger of Lubbock, and by nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother Marvin Chandler of Lubbock, who owned and operated numerous restaurants in the city.

The family would like to give special thanks to Janice Webb, Sue White, Karen Chandler Beesinger, and Freda McVay, all of Lubbock, as well as the staff at Lubbock Health Care Center for their loving support and care of Marie.
