Mark
Hodges
March 15, 1956 – September 27, 2025
Mark Hodges, 69, of Amarillo and formerly of Olton, died, surrounded by his family, Saturday, September 27, 2025, at his home in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Dr. Howie Batson and Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Olton Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Born on March 15, 1956, in Amherst, Texas, to Johnny and Mattie (Light) Hodges, Mark graduated from Olton High School in 1974 and from West Texas A&M University in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business and Economics. He married his high school sweetheart, Jennie Lynn Gunter on June 25, 1977, in Olton, Texas. They shared forty-eight wonderful years of marriage together.
Mark began his career as a farmer and served faithfully as the music minister at First Baptist Church in Olton for 15 years and later at First United Methodist Church in Plainview for 8 years. He also enjoyed a forty-seven year career in banking and financial advising, working with Kress National Bank in Kress, Olton State Bank in Olton, Wells Fargo in Plainview, Cattleman's National Bank in Marble Falls, First Capital Bank in Amarillo, and finally Prosperity Bank in Amarillo.
In addition to leading and serving at churches and revivals, he sang at numerous weddings, funerals, and civic events throughout the area.
Mark loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as well as his family. He accepted Jesus as his Savior at a revival at First Baptist Church, in Olton, at the age of six.
Mark had a servant's heart and was well known for his hardworking nature, dedication, and integrity, which stemmed from a deep-seated desire to provide for his family and build a life of dignity and purpose with Christ at the center. His steadfast dedication, quiet resolve, and giving heart was evident to all who knew him.
Mark loved and cherished his family! He supported them whole-heartedly and loved attending all of their activities. He particularly enjoyed playing golf with his son, son-in-law, and friends whenever he had the time. He never missed an opportunity to cook up a delicious brisket at family gatherings!
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Hodges and a brother-in-law, Marlos May.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie Lynn Hodges of Amarillo; his daughter, Heather Bradshaw and husband Todd of Amarillo; his son, Harlan Hodges and wife Kelly of Argyle, Texas; his mother, Mattie Hodges of Olton; his brother, Mike Hodges and wife Donna of Halfway; two sisters, Rebecca May of Olton and Donna Francis and husband Garry of Fredericksburg, Texas; and five beloved grandchildren, Emersyn Leigh Bradshaw, Brooks Wesley Bradshaw, Elle Elizabeth Bradshaw, Kade Mark Bradshaw, and Shepherd Mark Hodges.
