Martha Perez Carabajal, 59, of Lubbock and a lifetime resident of Olton, died Wednesday, October 6, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas. Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 10, 2021, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 11, 2021, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with Fr. Martin Pena officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, October 9, and from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 10, at Ramage Funeral Directors, in Olton.
Martha was born February 17, 1962, in Olton, Texas, to Ebodio and Amelia (Cordero) Perez. She graduated from Olton High School in 1980 and went on to earn her bachelors degree in education from Wayland Baptist University. A teacher for over 30 years, Martha retired in 2021 from Littlefield ISD and was named Teacher of the Year for 2020-21. Martha was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lubbock. Reading, watching movies, and dancing were some of her favorite things to do. She enjoyed sewing and made many blankets and pillows for members of the family. A great cook, especially her beans and rice, Martha was silly, funny, and the life of the party. She was the best mom and sister in the whole world. Her grandchildren were her life and she will be missed dearly by all.
Preceded in death by her parents, Martha was survived by her daughters, Natalia Gonzales and her husband Patrick of San Antonio, Andrea Hunt and her husband, Chris of Lubbock, and Carissa Brockman and her husband Cody of Lubbock, eight grandchildren: Alesandrea, Joseph, Marcus, Amelia, Alex, Daniel, Dominic, and Cy, her sister, Virginia Perez of Lubbock, two nieces, Jessica Lujan and Miranda Martinez, and two godchildren, Johnny Lujan and Lauren Casares.
