Maurice Carson, 80, of Cotton Center, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016, in Hale Center. Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 3, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Cotton Center with Brother J.D. Templeton officiating. Interment will follow at Hart Cemetery in Hart, Texas under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors of Olton. The family will receive friends at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, December 2, 2016. A viewing will also be held from 9:00 to 9:30 A.M. Saturday, December 3, at the First Baptist Church in Cotton Center.
Margaret Maurice Carson was born April 11, 1936, in Hart, Texas, to Alonso and Mabel (King) Aven. Graduating from Hart High School in 1954, Maurice married Joe Edd Carson on June 25, 1955, in Hart. She moved to Cotton Center from Hart and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cotton Center. She was a talented interior designer and thoroughly enjoyed her decorating business. A very involved mother and grandmother, Maurice was very outgoing and loved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Joe Edd Carson of Cotton Center, two sons, Danny Carson and wife, Barbara of Hart and Wade Carson of Cotton Center, her daughter, Sharla Straw and husband, Ken of Cotton Center, and a sister, Lillian Carson of Sunnyside. She was blessed with nine grandchildren: Christi Perkins of Plainview, Jennifer Herrera of Hobbs, Tiffany Bradford of Hart, Kelbi Carson of Dimmitt, Whitney Straw of Las Vegas, NV, Aven Talley of Comanche, Sawyer Straw of San Angelo, Logan Carson of Lipan and Austin Carson of Lipan and ten great-grandchildren.
