Mike Perez, 39, of Bovina and formerly of Olton, died Sunday, February 6, 2022, in Bovina, Texas. Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father Jeremy Trull officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.
Mike was born November 21, 1982, in Plainview, Texas, to David and Lupe (Hernandez) Perez. A proud Olton High School graduate, Mike went on to attend college and graduated from the Police Academy. He was a police officer for five years in Bovina and currently worked for TXDOT. On June 2, 2008, Mike married Veronica Schmitt in Plainview. He moved to Bovina in 2011 from Olton and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Mike loved to spend time with his family, enjoyed listening to music and singing, and was often found barbequing and cooking for others. Mike was an advocate for children and spent much of his time coaching youth sports. He was a founding member of the Olton Tiger League Football Association and a role model and second father to many. Mike's sense of humor lit up a room and he had great compassion for others. He was a loving father, caring husband, and will be missed greatly.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Veronica Perez of Bovina, his sons, Neto Perez, Kris Perez, and Malachi Perez, all of Bovina, his daughter, Ki'Leigh Perez of Bovina, his parents, David and Lupe Perez of Olton, his brother, Steven Perez of Olton, and two sisters, Selena Diaz and Lisa Abeyta, both of Olton.
