Mildred Britton, 82, of Olton, died Friday, December 10, 2010 in Lubbock. Graveside services will be 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Olton Cemetery with Dr. Travis Hart officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Mildred was born July 10, 1928 in Quanah, Texas to Clarence and Alta McCown Davis. She married Vernon Britton on December 23, 1946 in Quanah. They briefly lived in Lubbock, Dalhart, and Dumas before moving to Olton in 1952. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Well known for her famous chocolate chip cookies, she took pride in being a homemaker and loved taxiing her children to all their events.
While her children were growing up, Mildred was active in her children's activities including working as a school volunteer, Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, 4-H volunteer, PTA leader, Vacation Bible School teacher, football booster club supporter and basketball booster club supporter. In her later years, Mildred enjoyed participating in the Olton Study Club.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Britton of Olton, three sons, David Britton and his wife, Kathy of Pueblo West, CO, Kevin Britton and his wife, Katy of Edmond, OK, and Pat Britton and his wife, Kim of Longview, TX, and one daughter, Nancy Schilling and her husband, Tom of Lubbock. She was also survived by six grandchildren, Kris Britton, Melissa Ritchey, Matthew Britton, Brian Britton, Julie Britton, and Shasti Schilling. She was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, J.T., and Hunter.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
