Mirtie Ivins, 91, of Olton, died Saturday, June 1, 2013, in Lubbock. Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Northside Church of Christ with Mr. Danny Butler and Mr. Howard Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Ivins was born August 19, 1921, in Bonita, Texas to Will and Sara Cook Davis. She married Chester "Dick" Ivins on June 1, 1939. Mirtie was a longtime Olton resident and member of Northside Church of Christ. She loved cooking, cookbooks, and sewing. Known for her "green thumb", she especially enjoyed gardening and working with flowers. She was awarded the longest living resident award at the Runningwater Draw Care Center in which she moved into in 1997.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester "Dick" Ivins in 1990 and a daughter, Joan, in 1940.
Survivors include two sons, Autry Ivins and his wife, Kay, of Olton and Jimmie Ivins and his wife, Beverly, of Olton, two daughters, Vickie Coomer and her husband, Ron, of Idalou, and Darla Austin and her husband, Keith, of Lubbock, one brother, RD Davis of Saint Jo, and a sister, Shirley Wisdom of Mesquite. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
