Nolberta was born June 6, 1935, in Pecos, Texas, to Antonio and Modesta (Gomez) Rivera. She married the love of her life, Pablo F. Almanza, and the couple shared more than 50 years together. In 1948, she settled in the Olton community and later moved to Littlefield in 2001. Throughout her life, Nolberta worked in farm labor, picking cotton and working in the potato fields for the Hill and Smith families. She was also a devoted homemaker and a strong prayer warrior for her family and community. Nolberta and her husband were instrumental in organizing and supporting the Diez y Seis de Septiembre celebrations in Olton. She was a faithful member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield. Nolberta was a proud Cursillista and Guadalupana and faithfully served as president of the Guadalupanas. Her faith was the center of her life, and she was known for praying the rosary often for the souls of others.

Nolberta enjoyed quilting and embroidery, lovingly making blankets for family members. She also found joy in tending her yard, especially her flowers. Her kitchen was another place where love was shared, as she was known for her famous enchilada plates and Puerto Rican rice, meals that often brought family and friends together. She taught her family to be strong for one another, to remain humble yet resilient, and above all to keep their faith in God.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pablo Almanza in 2009; two brothers, Simon Rivera and Teodoro Rivera; and two sisters, Nicomedes Anzaldua and Josefa Gloria.

Survivors include two sons, Pablo Almanza of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Tomas Almanza of Littlefield; three daughters, Angela Minjarez of Robert Lee, Mary Ellen Rivera of Littlefield, and Violet Lopez of Littlefield; one brother, Pedro Rivera of San Antonio; and four sisters, Inocencia Rey of San Antonio, Maria Hernandez of Plainview, Dominga Sanchez of Sunnyvale, and Eliza Sauceda of Olton. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.donorservices.alz.org.
