Oliver E. Rose, 86, of Olton, died Monday, June 13, 2022, in Olton, Texas.  A family memorial service will be held at a later date in the Sandhills. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.

Oliver was born February 26, 1936, in his home on the Rose Ranch, south of Olton, to Walter B. and Dovie (Cavett) Rose.  A 1954 graduate of Olton High School, Oliver attended Sul Ross College where he played football. After a year, Oliver transferred to West Texas College in Canyon where he met Kathleen McLaury.  They were married August 3, 1957, in the chapel on campus.  Oliver was drafted into the United States Army in 1959 and served in Germany for two years.  While in Germany, Oliver played football for his Army company.  A long-time farmer and rancher, Oliver enjoyed raising Hereford cattle and spending time in the Sandhills.  An avid arrowhead collector, Oliver also enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He loved to travel which meant getting in the car and driving without stopping to his destination.  Oliver loved his family especially his grandgirls and he will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kathleen Rose, in 2020, three brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include his son, Steven Rose and wife Shelli of Olton and two grandchildren, Penni Chappell and husband Reagan of Olton and Robyn Stevenson and husband Kyle of Olton.  He was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Hagen, Keidi, Luke, Abigail, and Adam.
