Ordie Lou Gentry, 97, of Olton, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019, in Olton.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Brother David Azam officiating.  Interment will follow at 2:30 PM, Saturday, March 2, at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton, Texas and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.  The family will receive friends at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, March 1, 2019.

Ordie Lou was born October 25, 1921, in Van Zandt County, Texas, the daughter of G.W. and Dora (Cox) Gilliam.  She married Floyd Lee Childress in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1960.  In 1967, Ordie married Jim Gentry and he preceded her in death in 1979.  She moved to Olton from Slaton in 1978.  Ordie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowship with friends as a member of Olton Garden Club and Olton Home Demonstration Club.  She was talented with her hands and found great rewards from her hobby of ceramics, porcelains, and egg art.  Ordie liked painting and also enjoyed cooking and canning.

Ordie was preceded in death by her husbands, her son, Roy Glenn Childress in 1970, a step-son, Paul Gentry in 2013, and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Brooks and her husband James of Olton.  She was blessed with two grandchildren, Jimmy Brooks and his wife Cynthia of Olton and Tanya Debnam and her husband Alan of Olton, four great-grandchildren, Amber Debnam, Alana LaFon and her husband, Matthew, Trent Debnam, and Tammy Brooks, and one great-great-grandson, Mark LaFon.
