Owen E. Jones, 88, of Olton, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 in Lubbock. Services are 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Brother Patrick Hamilton and Rev. Kyle Streun officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Owen was born December 27, 1920 in the rock house on the Jones farm north of Olton to Ellis and Ida Jones. He married Sibyl Sorley July 20, 1941 in the Valley View Church. He was a farmer and member of the First Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir. Owen was a former Olton Grain Coop Director, Olton Gin Coop Director, Olton Feedyard Director, and an Olton ISD school board member for twelve years. He was a family man who greatly loved his children and his grandchildren.

Owen is survived by his wife, Sibyl of Olton, one son, George Jones and his wife, Tammye of Paris, TX, two daughters, Marilyn Carson and her husband, Eddy of Dalhart, TX, Valda Burkhalter and her husband, Jackie of Spearman, TX, eight grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
