Parley P. Myers, 85, of Olton, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 in Olton. Services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Rev. Kyle Streun and Rev. Patrick Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Parley Paul Myers was born February 27, 1925 in Gilmer, Texas to C.L. Myers and Emma Posey Myers. He moved to Olton in 1936 from Canyon. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. On July 9, 1946, Parley married Mary Caswell in Olton. He was a barber in Olton for 48 years and owned and operated Parley's Barber Shop from 1959 to 1995. He was a former Olton city council member and Olton's mayor from 1966 to 1974. He worked with the boy scouts and is in the Boy Scout Hall of Fame. Parley was a member of the First Baptist Church, the VFW Post #4779, and the Dairy Queen Coffee Club.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Finney in 2008.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Myers of Olton, two daughters, Lana Fincher of Amarillo, and Denise Jordan and her husband, Norman of Amarillo, one brother, Charles Myers and his wife, Ann of Pine, Arizona, and one sister, Audie Sonnenburg of Levelland. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Scott Smith and his wife, Shonda of Amarillo, Michael Smith and his wife, Melissa of Colorado Springs, CO, and Skeet Fincher of Amarillo. He also had two great-grandchildren, Kylee and Tyler Smith.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, July 5, 2010.
