Patsy was born May 28, 1934 to Artie Mae and C.A. Crump of Santa Anna, Texas. Soon afterward followed the birth of her best friend and sister, Peggy. She grew up in Coleman Texas where her father was a rural mail carrier and her mother a housewife. In school, though a year apart, she and Peggy were inseparable and placed in the same class. After graduation, in 1952, Patsy married Harold Mills of Santa Anna. With the completion of his military duty, Patsy and Harold moved to Olton settling on the family farm.
They welcomed the birth of their first child, a son, Glen, who preceded her in death just shy of his 6th birthday. In May of 1996, Patsy lost her husband of 42 years, Harold. Patsy and Harold had two daughters, Gayla Graham and Merilynn Wick. She was a beloved and devoted mother, grand and great grandmother. Patsy became "Moppy" to her adoring grand and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Olton and taught Pre-K Sunday school there for many years. Patsy was a people person. Opening the Mini Mall in 1972 with a group of ladies, she loved visiting with customers and was blessed to have many wonderful employees that she considered family. A devoted promoter of the community of Olton, she worked to bring other businesses and opportunities to the town. Patsy was named Business of the Year in 1987 and later Woman of the Year in 2001.
In Jan. 1998 she married Jerry Templin of Hamshire, Texas. Together they continued to work on behalf of the community. Jerry was a devoted husband and caregiver. Patsy will be very missed by family, friends and the community of Olton. Her work with others, the town and the Mini Mall have left a lasting legacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold Mills, son Glen, stepson, Randall Templin and a great-grandson.
She is survived by husband Jerry Templin, sister Peggy DePrang of Lubbock, daughters Gayla Graham of Amarillo, Texas and Merilynn Wick and husband Steve of Tyler, Lisa Blasig and husband Mike of LaGrange, Ronnie Templin of Ballground, Georgia, 3 grandsons, three granddaughters, 3 great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
