Paul A. Martinez, Sr., 83, of Olton, Texas, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday,  July 12, 2025, at Olton Methodist Church,  with Rev. Rosario Gonzalez officiating and under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 11, at the funeral home.

Paul was born June 24, 1942, in New Braunfels, Texas, to Ignacio and Maria (Abrego) Martinez. He married Susan Daniels on July 16, 1980, and they shared 35 years of marriage before her passing in 2015.

A longtime Olton resident, Paul worked at Givens Texaco in Olton for over 25 years and for many years in maintenance and as a bus driver for Olton ISD. He proudly served as a volunteer firefighter in Olton for many years as well. Known for his strong work ethic and good attitude, Paul was a dependable and familiar face in the community. He drove the school bus on many band trips and football games, always offering a kind word and a steady hand.

Paul loved westerns, music, and animals—especially his dog, Dixie and cat, Daisy. He also had a special fondness for owls and the Washington Redskins. Above all, Paul was a lovable man who brought joy to those around him.

He is survived by his two sons, Paul "Shorty" Martinez II of Olton and Jamie Martinez of Lubbock; two daughters, Jay Martinez and Sidney Gutierrez, both of Plainview; his goddaughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Anguano of Saginaw, four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Carlos Martinez of Dallas; and a sister, Gloria Fierro of Fate, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue; and his parents, Ignacio and Maria Martinez and two brothers, Stan Martinez and Ignacio Martinez.
