Peggy Montemayor, 66, of Hart, departed this earthly world and entered Heaven's gate on July 15, 2022, in Olton, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the First Baptist Church, in Hart. Interment will follow at Hart Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 19. 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Hart.
On August 9, 1955, Peggy Lee Montemayor was born to Charlie and Tiny (Johnson) Scott, in Dimmitt, Texas. Peggy graduated from Hart High School in 1975 and attended Amarillo College. She worked for Frito Lay for many years. She also worked for Holly Sugar, where she met her lifelong friend, Lerline Baker, who she gossiped on the phone to daily. Peggy married the love of her life, Jose Esteban Montemayor, on July 25, 1989, in Clovis, N.M. Peggy and Jose were blessed with their only daughter, Ebonie, who they were very proud of. She blessed them with two grandchildren, Dominic and Joselynn Galvan, who were the joy of her life. Peggy also had many nieces and nephews who she loved as if they were her own. Crossword puzzles, Bingo, and dominos were some of Peggy's favorite things to do. A lifetime Hart resident, Peggy was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Hart. Peggy was all about family, she never met a stranger, and she will be dearly missed.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Tiny Scott, her husband, Jose Esteban Montemayor, and a brother, Willie (W.A.) Scott.
She is survived by her daughter, Ebonie Galvan and husband, PJ of Olton, four sisters, Josie Posada and husband Paul of Mercedes, Pauline Finch of Austin, Cathey Florence of Fort Worth, and Debbie Rice and husband Leo of Hart, and a brother, Robert Dale Scott of Amarillo. She was blessed with two grandchildren, Dominic and Joselynn Galvan of Olton.
