Petra Alvarez, 72, of Seminole, died Thursday, November 4, 2010 in Lubbock. Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 5, 2010 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 6, 2010 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton with Fr. John Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Petra was born December 4, 1937 in Karnes City, TX to Julian and Micaela Gonzales. She married Blas Alvarez on November 13, 1956 in Dickens County. She moved to Seminole in 1995 from Levelland. Petra was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Guadalupanas. She loved to bake and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Sara Mosqueda on October 20, 2010.

Survivors include her husband, Blas Alvarez of Seminole, three sons, Bruno Alvarez of Seminole, Frank Alvarez of Hobbs, and Richard Alvarez of Lubbock, one daughter, Blanca Estella Alvarez of Colonias, N.M., two brothers, Fortino Gonzales of Burnet, and Bruno Gonzales of Plains, and three sisters, Lupe Arriola of San Antonio, Victoria Brosig of Karnes City, and Juanita Mosqueda of Lubbock. She was blessed with four grandchildren.
