Pioquinto Albert Ruiz, Jr., 56, of Albuquerque, New Mexico and formerly of Olton, Texas, died Tuesday, June 30, 2020, in Albuquerque.  Rosary will be said at 6:00 PM, Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.  Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 3, 2020, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton with Fr. Jacob Powell officiating.  Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Pioquinto was born October 6, 1963, in Lockney, Texas, to Pioquinto Sr. and Maria (Bueno) Ruiz. He graduated as salutatorian of Olton High School in 1982.  He went on to attend Texas Tech University and graduated with his bachelor's degree in 1986.  Moving to Albuquerque in 1999, Pioquinto was a traffic engineer.  An avid fan of Texas Tech and the Dallas Cowboys, Pioquinto loved to sing and dance.  He enjoyed attending a great barbeque and spending time with his family.  An extremely stubborn man, Pioquinto was strong in his faith, always selfless, and always helping anyone in need.

Pioquinto was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Ruiz and a sister, Viola Bosquez.

Survivors include his father, Pioquinto A. Ruiz, Sr. of Olton, four sons, Pioquinto A. Ruiz, III and his wife Kasteele of Albuquerque, Guillermo F. Ruiz of Albuquerque, Oscar Alvarez Ruiz of Albuquerque, and Bryan Rayos Ruiz of Albuquerque, two daughters, Gabrielle G. Hernandez and her husband Juan and AnnaKorina Ruiz, both of Albuquerque, three brothers, Rene Ruiz of Del Rio, Harvey Ruiz of Plainview, and Damian Ruiz of Denver City, and three sisters, Rita Oliva of Olton, Janie Zermeno of Edmonson, and Alma Melendez of Plainview.  He was blessed with eight grandchildren.
