Ramiro "R.A." Alaniz, 76, of Olton, died Sunday, October 9, 2016, in Olton. Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 13, 2016, at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors of Olton.

Ramiro was born December 20, 1939, in San Diego, Texas, to Lucas and Paula (Robledo) Alaniz. He married Antonia Barrera in June of 1960. Moving to Olton in 1985 from Cotton Center, Ramiro was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He worked for the City of Olton for over 20 years. He loved to sing and sang at church for many years. Mowing lawns and anything John Deere were two of his favorite things.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Antonia, in 1994 and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his son, Lucas Alaniz of Amarillo, two daughters, Sophia Alaniz of Plainview and Patricia Saenz of Olton, one brother, Benito Alaniz of Beeville, and three sisters, Francisca A. Gonzalez and Beatrice A. Rios, both of Concepcion, TX and Cleotilde A. Valdez of California. He was blessed with eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
