Raul T. Fuentes, 75, of Abilene and formerly of Olton, died Saturday, March 26, 2016, in Abilene. Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 30, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, March 31, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. John Smith as celebrant. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.
Raul was born July 4, 1940, in Brackettville, Texas to Patricio and Sofia Fuentes. He moved to Olton in 1951 and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. In 2007, Raul moved to Amarillo to live with family and then to Abilene in 2011. He had a love for the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Longhorns, fishing, and watching baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ezequiel Fuentez.
Survivors include two sons, Raul Fuentes, Jr. of Garland and Hector Fuentes and his wife, Angie of San Antonio, three daughters, Helen Ramos and Ray Grinie of Amarillo, Gracie Fuentes of McKinney, and Martha DeLaCruz and her husband, Steve Crawford of Amarillo, two brothers, Patricio Fuentes, Jr. of New Braunfels and Cecil Fuentes of Cleburne, eight sisters, Rita Rodriguez of Schertz, TX, Alice Qualls of Canyon, Mary Martinez of Idaho, Rebecca Olivas and Juana Fuentes, both of Oklahoma City, Sofia Martinez of Olton, Eva Saenz of Dimmitt and Molly Garcia of Lewisville. He was blessed with ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
