A family memorial service for Reynaldo Guzman Lopez will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Olton Volunteer Fire Department with Pastor Joe Carrasco, family friend, officiating. Rey passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at the age of 63, after a lengthy illness.

Rey was born January 21, 1950 in Atascosa, Texas to Louis Lopez, Sr. and Pat Guzman Lopez. He attended Olton and Spade schools and was an active member of the Olton Volunteer Fire Department for 36 years. Fifteen of those years, he served as fire chief. He was a police officer for the city of Olton, an EMS dispatcher, and an EMT special skills. Rey was a boy scout master for Troop 220, p-wee coach and softball coach. He was a bus driver, mechanic, welder, farmer, and was employed at one time with the city of Plainview. He married Jeanie Gabehart in 1997. Gardening, watching westerns, relaxing in his back yard, and spending time with family were his favorite pastimes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Guadalupe Lopez, Larry Lopez, and Johnny Lopez, a nephew, Heraldo Leroy Lopez, Jr., and his first wife, Phyllis Kay Lopez.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanie Lopez of Olton, four daughters, Twyla Dominguez and her husband, Javier of Hart, Reynalda Silvas and her husband, Joel of Littlefield, Stephanie Berman and her husband, B.J. of Amarillo, and Kathy Owens of Levelland, one son, Joe Don Cox and his wife, Andrea of San Antonio, four brothers, Louis Lopez, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Olton, Eusabio Lopez and his wife, Runi of Spade, Leroy Lopez and his wife, Christina of Olton, and Henry Lopez and his wife, Pam of Stanford, one sister, Marilyn Lopez of Olton, his best friend, Desparoux (his dog), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren.
