Bob was born September 20, 1947, in Orange, Texas, to Robert Sr. and Lois Jean (Lewis) Stroud. He married the love of his life, Susie Struve, on January 31, 1969. Moving to Hale Center in 1981, Bob was a member and deacon of the First United Methodist Church. Bob was a man of many talents and he could build and fix almost anything. He worked as a supervisor for Payless Shoe Source, operated Struve's Department Store and managed Lot O Cars, both in Hale Center, and most recently, taught Builder's Trade for Hale Center ISD for over 15 years. Bob was known for his service in and around Hale Center. He served as mayor for Hale Center for many years and was a former Hale Center city council and Lion's Club member.
Bob enjoyed playing golf and attending sporting events. The Hale Center Owls, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and the New York Yankees were his favorite teams. Most of all, Bob loved his family. His daughters and grandchildren meant the world to him, but Susie was his rock and he missed her dearly after her passing in 2019.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Susie Stroud, in 2019, a brother, Larry Stroud, and a sister, Carol Wohlfahrt.
Survivors include his daughters, Chrisie Jackson and her husband Shane of Amarillo and Laurie Duck and her husband Aaron of Amarillo and two sisters, Kathy Bogue of California and Jeanie Mooring and her husband Jimmy of Colorado. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Hayden Stroud, Tristan Jackson, Spencer Jackson, Taylor Stroud, Ashton Duck, and Berkley Duck.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Hale Center First Methodist Church PO Box 1258 Hale Center, Texas 79041.
