Robert Joel "Bobby" Turner, 74, of Olton, Texas, died Monday, January 20, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the First Baptist Church, in Olton, with Brother David Azam officiating.  Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Ramage Funeral Directors, in Olton.

Bobby was born January 31, 1950 and raised in Olton, Texas by his parents Joe and Gwynne Turner.  He graduated from Olton High School in 1968.

He attended college at West Texas State University and graduated in 1974.  He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Cowart, on July 17, 1971.  After graduation, Bobby followed in his father's footsteps and began a career in coaching.  They welcomed two daughters, Cari in 1975, and Kristi in 1977.  After coaching in several small towns in the Texas Panhandle (such is the life of a coach!), Bobby and his family settled in Muleshoe.  In addition to his coaching duties, he was assigned to teach a computer class when Apple computers were first being introduced into the educational system.  He dedicated himself to learning all he could about the new technology and passed that knowledge on not only to the students, but to his daughters and community members as well.  He left coaching to pursue a career in IT which he continued until his retirement. With retirement came hobbies, and Bobby eventually turned to gun restoration.  He restored hundreds of guns over the years and took great joy in showcasing what he liked to call "God's artwork" in the natural beauty of the wooden stocks he brought back to life.

Bobby was a man of many interests and talents.  He was an avid golfer in his younger years, spent time on the farm working with his father-in-law, James Cowart, and was a gifted artist.  He also started learning woodworking and carpentry skills from James that would later enable him to develop his skill in restoring guns.  He shared his love of sports and athletics with countless students throughout his coaching career.  His transition into the computer world led to him co-authoring a book in the mid-1980's - yet another example of how he loved to share his knowledge with everyone.  Over the years Bobby had many interesting jobs such as working for the Santa Fe Railroad, a cucumber processing plant, a turkey processing plant, Tolk Station, and Missouri Valley.

Bobby loved spending time with his family whether it be family vacations, or weekends at home working in the shop or out on the shooting range. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life and he was happiest spending time with them, teaching them, and watching them grow in their skills and knowledge.  He was as dedicated to his extended family as he was his immediate family and always took time to offer help wherever it was needed.

Bobby was a member of First Baptist Church Olton, Texas.  His faith made him secure in his knowledge of where he would go after this life and was an assurance he leaned on.

He was preceded in death by his mother Gwynne Apperson Turner and his father Joe L. Turner.

Bobby is survived by wife of 53 years, Barbara Turner, daughters Cari Garcia and husband Steve of Odessa, Texas, and Kristi Flusche of Groesbeck, Texas, granddaughters Caitlin York and husband James of Midland, Texas, Brittney Flusche of Midland, Texas, Kylie McIntire and partner Jesse Garcia of Odessa, Texas, and Lindsey Flusche of Lubbock, Texas, grandsons Logan Hopper and wife Jayme of San Antonio, Texas, and AJ Garcia of Odessa, Texas, great-grandchildren Paislie York, Emmersyn York, Kayne Garcia, and Keeley Hopper, one brother David Turner, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity in Olton.
