Obituary

Robert "Bob" Williams, 89, of Olton, died Monday, February 17, 2014, in Plainview. Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 20, at Main St. Church of Christ in Olton with Mr. Brad Wangerin and Mr. Johnny Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Mr. Williams was born November 6, 1924, in Goodlet, Texas to William Freeman and Stella May Ramsey Williams. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan during World War II. On February 12, 1947, he married Madie Perkins in Childress and moved to Olton in 1953. Bob was a cotton ginner and worked at the Olton Coop Gin for 61 years. For 22 years, Bob was the Camp Host for the National Forest Service Campground Field Tract in Pecos, N.M. He loved woodworking and was an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, and a daughter-in-law, Nina Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Madie Williams of Olton, four sons, Robert Williams and his wife, Theresa of Olton, Alan Williams of Olton, Kevin Williams and his wife, Brenda of Springlake, and Chris Williams and his wife, Twila of Nazareth, and two daughters, Fredda Dear and her husband, Leland of Denver and Linda Garlick and her husband, Bill of Wilson, N.C. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and many friends all over the world.

Memorials may be made to the Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association P.O. Box 1087 Olton, TX 79064.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 19.
