Rodney Wayne Sherry, 52, of Olton, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018, in Enid, Oklahoma. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Olton with Brother Neely Landrum officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Rodney was born February 28, 1966, in Odessa, Texas, to Steve and Alicegene (Cottrell) Sherry. Growing up in Dalhart, Rodney graduated from Dalhart High School in 1984. Rodney loved flying and currently was a crop duster pilot in Oklahoma. He had experience as a corporate pilot, a glider pilot and glider pilot instructor. Aerobatics was just one of his loves and many talents. A very determined person, Rodney fought to overcome a bout with throat cancer with his main goal of getting back in the air. His proudest accomplishment was his relationship with the Lord and his family. Known as "Hot Rod" by his pilot friends and close friends, Rodney touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Steve Sherry, his maternal grandparents, Gene and Juanita Cottrell and his paternal grandparents, Rex and Alice Sherry.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Alicegene Brooks of Olton, his fiancée, Nita Williamson of Pond Creek, Ok, Nita's children, Hanna and Hunter Williamson, numerous cousins, friends, and his dog, Jenny.
