Rosa Belmarez Martinez, 85, of Hale Center, died Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 28, 2022, at Hale Center Cemetery, with Fr. George Poonely officiating and under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Rosa was born May 1, 1937, in Crystal City, Texas, to Pedro and Teresa Belmarez.  She married Angel Martinez and had been a resident of Hale Center for over 40 years.  A member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Rosa was very friendly and she took joy in being around others.  She enjoyed shopping and was a talented seamstress.  Most of all, Rosa loved gardening and tending to her plants.

Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Angel Martinez, Sr. in 1989, two sons, Pedro Martinez in 2013 and Manuel Martinez in 2016, a daughter, Rosa Garcia in 2022, and six brothers.

Survivors include three sons, Luis Martinez of Red Lake, Minnesota, Angel Martinez, Jr. of Ellinger, Texas, and Richard James Cruz of Smyer, Texas and two daughters, Olga Benitez of Las Vegas, Nevada and Josie Martinez of El Campo, Texas.  She was blessed with 28 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
