Ruth Hudgens Holly, 99, of Olton, passed peacefully from this life, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in Olton.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Main Street Church of Christ, in Olton, with Evangelist Dallas Carrasco officiating.  Interment will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, in Lubbock, under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.  Visitation will be from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2023, at Ramage Funeral Directors, in Olton.

Ruth was born October 6, 1923, at her home in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Roy and Lottie (Goodman) Burleson.  She grew up in Dike, Texas, until she was five years old, when she moved to Olton, Texas. Ruth graduated from Olton High School, around 1940, and then took bookkeeping from Draughn's Business College in Plainview.  In 1942, Ruth married W.H. (Dick) Hudgens and they were married almost 40 years. She married R.D. Holly, in 1985, and they were married seven years.

Ruth worked for Thompson Chevrolet in Olton for nine years and kept books at Fisher Ford for five years.  She then worked for Don Spain Farm Supply for 20 years.  She also served as an election judge for Olton for over 25 years. Ruth loved to play dominos, 42, Mexican Dominos, and she enjoyed going fishing.  One of her favorite things was to spend all day in the yard tending her garden and flowers.

Ruth is survived by her son, Dickie Hudgens and his wife Linda of Lubbock and a step-daughter, Donna Pernell of Floydada. She was blessed with four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
