Sam Walters, 63, of Olton, died Saturday, March 25, 2023, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the First Baptist Church, in Olton, with Brother David Azam officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Viewing will be held from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 27 and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the funeral home.
Sam was born December 20, 1959, in Littlefield, Texas, to Travis and Janice (Stueart) Walters. A lifetime Olton resident, Sam graduated from Olton High School in 1978. He married Tanya Morris, on April 10, 1982, and they were married over 40 years. Sam was a millwright and owned and operated TSW Services. Known as Frog to his closest friends, Sam never met a stranger and was everyone's "best friend". A former member of the Olton Stock Show Board, Sam enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing and boating, with friends and family. Sam had a fierce love for his family, especially his kids and grandkids, and he will be dearly missed.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, Travis Walters, in 1999 and a brother, Marty Walters, in 2019.
Survivors include his wife, Tanya Walters of Olton, his mother, Janice Walters of Olton, two sons, Brady Walters and his fiancé Karlee Reeves of Olton and Travis Walters and his wife Michelle of O'Donnell, his daughter, Carly Williams and her husband Brad of O'Donnell, and a brother, Jim Walters of Rochester. He was blessed with four grandchildren: Ellie, Piper, Braxx, and Nash.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Olton Cemetery Association PO Box 1055 Olton, Texas 79064 or the Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association PO Box 1087 Olton, Texas 79064.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Onkendi, Dr. Jones, Dr. Iwuji, and the UMC nursing staff for the amazing care given to Sam.
