Samuel Martinez, 95, of Olton, died Friday, April 1, 2022, in Olton.  Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2022, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton with Fr. Jeremy Trull officiating.  Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Ramage Funeral Directors.

Samuel was born September 3, 1926, in Brackettville, Texas, to Simplicio Jr. and Maria (Charles) Martinez.  He moved to Olton in 1952 and in 1953, he married Sofia Fuentes and they were married over 65 years.  Samuel was a concrete worker until working at Excel Meat Packers for over 25 years.  A talented woodworker, Samuel could build just about anything, including bi-planes and playhouses for his children and grandchildren.  He enjoyed camping and doing anything outdoors, especially with his family.

Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Sofia Martinez, in 2018, a son, Samuel Martinez, Jr., a great-great-grandchild, five brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include his son, Jose Luiz Martinez of Plainview, daughter, Susana Armour of Greenville, TN, brother, Ernesto Martinez of Littlefield, and a sister, Ernestina "Nettie" Martinez of Olton.  He was blessed with six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
