Schelia was born March 2, 1953, in Amherst, Texas, to Doyle Black and Jodi (Miller) McGee. She was raised by Doyle and Theta Black. On January 30, 1971, Schelia married the love of her life, Larry Vrubel, in Bethel, New Mexico and they were married over 51 years. A talented painter, Schelia also enjoyed gardening and canning. Faith was important to her and she was a voracious reader. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her three parents and a sister, Pam Moore.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Larry Vrubel of Canyon, daughters, Thadra Vrubel of the Austin area, Mandi Smith and husband Danny of Canyon, her son, Nathan Vrubel and wife Rachel of Manvel, Texas, and three sisters, Kyla Black of San Diego, CA, Paula White and husband Mike of Lubbock, and Patti Brown of Midland. She was blessed with six grandchildren: Bailey Smith, Eli Vrubel, Dayson Smith, Hayden Vernon, Cora "Atlas" Vrubel, and Maggi Mae Smith.
The family suggest memorials be made to www.alz.org/westtexas.
