Shirlie Rae (Floyd) Roberson passed from this life on April 29, 2024, in Olton, Texas, at the age of 98. She was born November 28, 1925, in Lockney, Texas, to John Marvin (Doc) and Willie Mae Floyd.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Olton Cemetery with Brother Kyle Brock officiating and under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2024, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.

Shirlie married Gilbert Daryl Roberson on April 22, 1946. They had a daughter, Donna, in 1949 and a son, Scott, in 1957.

Shirlie was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family, church events, and harvest helpers.  She was also an excellent seamstress and was very talented and creative.

Shirlie was a member of Olton Methodist Church, Methodist Women, Olton Study Club, Ladies Golf Association, and Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association serving as a dispatcher before 9-1-1. She was a twirler and drum major at Lockney High School where she graduated in 1943.  She also attended Texas Tech University. She was honored by the Olton Chamber of Commerce in 1992 as Citizen Through the Years.

Shirlie is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, in 2020, her parents, Doc and Willie Mae Floyd, and her younger brother, John Marvin Floyd, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Barnes of Lubbock; her son, Scott Roberson and wife Pam of Olton; three grandchildren: Ty Aldridge of Lubbock, Derek Roberson and wife Laurie of Olton, and Joni Buzarde and husband Brian of Rifle, CO; and great-grandsons, Max and Dash Buzarde and another on the way.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Runningwater Draw Care Center and Sandhills Village in Olton for their wonderful, loving care of Shirlie these last few years.
