Sofia Martinez, 80, of Olton, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018, in Lubbock.  Rosary will be said at 6:00 P.M., Sunday, July 8, 2018, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton.  Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 9, 2018, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Sylvester D'Souza officiating.  Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Sofia was born December 4, 1937, in Brackettville, Texas, to Patricio and Sofia (Talamantes) Fuentes.  Moving to Olton in 1952, Sofia married Samuel Martinez in 1953 and they were married over 64 years.  A member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sofia enjoyed being outdoors and camping.  Most special to Sofia was her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister, and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include her husband, Samuel Martinez of Olton, one son, Jose Luiz Martinez of Plainview, one daughter, Susana Armour of Greenville, TN, a brother, Cecilio Fuentes of Dallas, seven sisters, Rita Rodriguez of Church, TX, Mary Martinez of Idaho, Eva Saenz of Dimmitt, Juana Hernandez of Oklahoma City, Elicia Fuentes of Canyon, Rebecca Fuentes of Oklahoma City, and Amelia Fuentes of Dallas.  She was blessed with six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
