Susie Stroud, 69, of Hale Center, died Sunday, December 8, 2019, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church in Hale Center with Brother Jimmy Cameron officiating. Interment will follow at Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 10, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center.
Susie was born December 26, 1949, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Gene and Christine (Hogan) Struve. A lifetime resident of Hale Center, Susie was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church. On January 31, 1969, Susie married the love of her life, Bob Stroud, in Hale Center and was a loving and attentive wife. She worked at Struve's Department Store in Hale Center and later for the City of Hale Center for 17 years. Susie was currently serving as the Hale Center High School librarian and was loved by the students and staff alike. Susie always had a smile on her face and a positive outlook on life. She enjoyed collecting owls and crosses. Susie was very proud of her family, her daughters, and grandchildren and she will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Bob Stroud of Hale Center, her daughters, Chrisie Jackson and her husband Shane of Amarillo and Laurie Duck and her husband Aaron of Amarillo, and a brother George "Hogie" Struve and his wife Bonita of Paris, Texas. She was blessed with six grandchildren: Hayden Stroud, Tristan Jackson, Spencer Jackson, Taylor Stroud, Ashton Duck, and Berkley Duck.
The family suggests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund PO Box 1258 Hale Center, Texas 79041.
