Obituary

Vance William Stroebel departed from this life on November 9, 2018.  He was born on August 24, 1962 to Catherine and Andrew Stroebel, and raised in Olton, Texas.  He graduated from Olton High School in 1980, where he was a talented athlete and member of the school band.  Vance made many close friends while growing up in Olton, and though he never returned to live in Olton after graduating, he maintained these friendships throughout his adult life.  After high school, he went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance from Lubbock Christian University in 1987.  After graduating, he worked for the American State Bank, where he was named a Vice-President.  For the remainder of his career, Vance worked as a credit manager in the agricultural field.  He used his West Texas roots to build relationships with farmers all across the Southern United States and work with them to finance their businesses.

In his spare time, Vance enjoyed fishing, golfing, going to Texas Rangers baseball games, and watching his favorite football team - the Texas Tech Red Raiders.  He was also an avid reader and skilled Sudoku player, and had two cats that he adored, named Cornbread and Beans.  More than anything, Vance loved to spend time with his family.  His demeanor and spirit truly lit up when he was in their presence.  He was a devoted and supportive father to his two children, and was head over heels for his new granddaughter.  Vance was able to combine his love for family, fishing, and the outdoors at the annual family trip to Red River, where he looked forward all year long to competing with his brothers to catch the biggest fish.  Vance was a kind, charismatic, and genuinely wonderful man.  He was loved deeply by his family and many friends, and his shining personality will be forever missed.  Vance was a man of deep faith, and our hearts rejoice knowing he has joined his Savior's Kingdom.

Vance is preceded in death by his parents, brother Mark Stroebel, and sister Julie Stroebel.  He is survived by his children, Aarika Stroebel and Dillon Stroebel, granddaughter Teagen Robuck, brother Stan Stroebel and wife Misty, sister-in-law Jo Karen Stroebel, nieces Andrea Broxson and Shae Stroebel, and nephews Kody Stroebel, Kyle Stroebel, Brandon Stroebel and wife Kasyha and their children Aubreigh and Baylor.

A memorial service for Vance will be at 2:00 PM, on Monday, November 19, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Olton, Texas with local arrangements under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.  The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Runningwater Draw Care Center  P.O. Box 409 Olton, Texas 79064, where both of Vance's parents were cared for in their later years.
