Obituary

Wanda L. Exter, 92, of Olton, died Sunday, December 7, 2014, in Olton. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 11, at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Wanda was born September 11, 1922, in Breckenridge, Texas to Houston and Annie (West) Langford. She graduated from Olton High School in 1940 and from Abilene Christian College in 1948. She married R.B. Poteet and he died in a plane crash while serving in the Army Air Corp on April 24, 1946. She married Glen Exter on September 23, 1948 in Lubbock and he preceded her in death in 2008. Over the years, she served the Olton community in various capacities. She was a bookkeeper for the Jack Straw Gin and the International House, but her main love was reading. She was an avid reader and volunteered as librarian for the Olton Library for many years. Wanda was a member of Main Street Church of Christ, a Girl Scout leader, one of the founders of the Olton Study Club, and an active PTA mom and bandparent.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bill Langford.

Survivors include her son, Steve Exter and his wife, Kathy of Lubbock and a grandson, Monty Exter and his wife, Andrea of Austin. She was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Eli and Emma.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 10.
